Almond Coffee House: Hangout for dessert enthusiasts

Amman welcomes multinational chains of coffeehouses, but there is always space for local coffeehouses, and they always find willing patrons, foodies who enjoy exploring new menus, or wish to follow a healthy lifestyle or explore new cooking methods.اضافة اعلان

Almond Coffee House, in Rabieh, offers freshly roasted coffee, breakfast options, salads and desserts to satisfy all tastes and diets. Established just five years ago, the café drew plenty of customers, and opened one other branch on Mecca Street.

The Mecca Street branch, which I visited a while ago, offers a wide variety of desserts, including red velvet cake, cheesecakes, brownies, making one feel in a cake shop, but its fusion croissant is unique. Stuffed with custard and topped with chocolate and strawberry, it may not be the best choice when you are on a diet, but it is scrumptious for those with a sweet tooth.

This croissant is a meal in itself. It is freshly baked in the café’s own bakery, which prepares all its items from scratch.
Besides its delicious desserts, Almond Coffee House offers a variety of cold and hot drinks. I chose a pumpkin spice gingerbread latte, which is a little bit spicy and topped with a gingerbread biscuit. This drink, like all others at this café, comes with one’s choice of milk, and they are many: skimmed, soya, almond, coconut, lactose free and full fat. This does not change the fact that this drink, along with the cinnamon found in it, is not sugar free.

It is a drink that goes best in autumn, something the café makes easier to understand, having made it seasonal. It might not be to everybody’s liking, but it is worth trying at least once, maybe to feel the Halloween spirit.
The coffeehouse has a variety of cold sandwiches and salads at noon time; if you go in the evening, you may not find all the items on the menu. A fresh bagel that could be eaten alone or with some fresh vegetables inside will be there later in the day. Choosing and mixing one’s favorite vegetables will make it taste better and would turn it from being just a medium-size bagel to a satisfying meal.
The staff is helpful; they help one choose, if needed, even those on a diet. The café, however, needs to work more on its cold sandwiches menu, not to let the selection of desserts overshadow it.
