AMMAN —
Minister of Interior Mazen Al-Faraya on Wednesday directed administrative governors to release
100 administrative detainees, and cutting their detention period to time served.

The decision was made after the files of the detainees have been strictly examined, and confirming that their release would not pose any threats to their lives or public safety and security, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
According to official statistics, the number of administrative detainees, who are taken to custody upon order from governors and district governors without trial, stood in 2020 at around 21,500, dropping from around 36,000 the year before.
