Amman - Deputizing for the Prime Minister, Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abul Samen attended the launch of the 10th International Jordanian Chemical Engineering Conference, organized on Monday, by the Chemical Engineering Division at the Jordan Engineers Association (JEA).

Abul Samen said that holding the conference is of great importance in light of the developments of chemical engineering science and the challenges it faces, "especially after what we witnessed during the Covid-19 pandemic, which doubled the challenges in providing goods, and opened eyes again on the importance of the security of goods and services, localization, and reducing dependence on foreign markets, in addition to the growing competition in global markets, which makes it imperative for Jordanian industrialists, especially in the chemical industries, to resort to national competencies and activate scientific and technological research mechanisms to counter challenges and keep pace with developments."
He pointed out that the economic modernization vision included the engine of high-value industries as one of its main engines, which aims to develop Jordan to be a hub for industry in the region by supplying fast-growing exports with distinctive high-value products, developing strategies, implementing plans and programs, and enforcing legislation that contributes to the establishment of a participatory institutional approach between the public and private sectors.
Abul Samen pointed to the government's keenness in raising the scientific and professional efficiency of engineers and engineering institutions in various engineering fields through joint and constructive work that brings together researchers, academics, and engineers in chemical processes from Jordan with various international bodies and organizations in sisterly and friendly countries.
For his part, JEA President Ahmad Samara Al-Zoubi stressed that the Chemical Engineering Division has always been characterized by spreading and expanding research papers and networking with national, Arab, and foreign institutions, lauding the efforts exerted by the division and the committee of the Best Jordanian Product Award in the chemical and plastic industries sector over the years.
