AMMAN — On Monday, the Director of traffic department, Firas Al-Dweiri, stated during a meeting in the House of
Representatives that 11.5 million
traffic movements are recorded in Amman
daily, according to data received by technological surveillance. He added that
approximately one million cars are registered in the capital alone. This number
rises to one and a half million cars when work starts, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

Amman Mayor, Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, said that
finding a comprehensive
public transport system throughout Jordan is one of the
most important solutions to reduce traffic congestion.
He pointed out that there are behaviors by
some drivers that lead to traffic congestion, such as “double parking” and
parking in prohibited places.
He added that there is no city in the world
without traffic.
