AMMAN — Since the beginning of 2023, a total of 122,253
local and foreign tourists visited Jordan's northern archaeological site,
Jerash, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Jerash Tourism Director, Firas Khatatbeh, said the city
witnessed active tourist movement from various foreign and local nationalities.
100 percent increaseHe added that number of tourists increased by 100 percent,
compared to previous years, which stood at 44 percent in 2022.
Jerash Tourism Directorate is constantly working to improve
visitor services and intensify inspection tours on tourist facilities, in
cooperation with the city's
Public Safety Committee to ensure quality of tourism services, he said.
The directorate, he noted, is keen to implement plans to
increase tourist stay, stimulate tourism industry and increase visitor number,
which would reflect positively on the economic sector, especially since the
city is known for its craft market and several sites frequently flocked by tourists.
