AMMAN — Solar panels will be given to 17 schools in
various regions across the Kingdom to generate electricity for heating and air
conditioning, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

On Sunday,
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Al-Kharabsheh said that the
program is implemented by the
Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) as part of a Royal initiative that aims at improving the school
environment.
“This batch is
part of the 128 schools that have been included in JREEEF program of renewable
energy upgrades with the goal of rationing energy consumption and providing a
safe and stimulating educational environment for students,” the minister said.
The project, according
to JREEEF Director Rasmi Hamzeh, entails designing, supplying, installing,
connecting, operating, maintaining, and testing the renewable energy systems,
as well as split air conditioners and solar heaters.
