World Health Organization indicates that more than 75 percent of people with mental and neurological disorders and the misuse of narcotic substances in developing countries do not receive any treatment or psychological health care due to the shortage of staff working in psychological treatment field.
He also indicated that the Ministry of Health allocates less than 2 percent of its budget to mental health, indicating that the COVID-19 pandemic caused significant effects on the humans’ mental health.
He explained that the most important challenges of providing mental health services are the weak coordination between specialized and non-specialized mental care providers, the lack of qualified staff in the field, and the poor quality and difficulty of accessing psychological services.
He stressed that the feelings of shame about mental illness makes it difficult for the patient to cure, in addition to the attack by non-specialists on the field of psychiatry and psychological services under the pretext of inherited religious and social beliefs.
