AMMAN— A source at the
Ministry of Health on Monday contended that around 21 cases of acquired
immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) have been recorded in Jordan in 2021, bringing
about the total number of cases to 327, according to Al-Ghad daily.

The source added that 250 AIDS
patients are being treated at Jordan’s public hospitals. Three cases involved
Jordanian women, and three cases involved Arab nationals.
For his part, Forearms of
Change Center Director Abdallah Al-Barmawi said that the number of AIDS cases
in the Kingdom has increased in the past few years, Al-Ghad reported.
Barmawi expects the cases to
grow up in the upcoming years, as the turnout for AIDS tests is increasing
along with awareness programs about the disease.
Jordan
recorded 41 AIDS cases in 2018, 33 cases in 2019, and 23 cases in 2020, according
to the Ministry of
Health.
