The
illegally siphoned water was used to fill agricultural irrigation ponds and
water tankers and to water sheep, acts which violated the law and disrupted the
water supply to various areas of Ghor Al-Safi and the Southern Jordan Valley,
which affected the quota of water supplied to citizens.
In a
statement issued Tuesday, the ministry said that based on the completion of the
inspection campaign in various regions, several illegal connections to main
water lines were removed and legal procedures have been taken and
investigations are under way.
The statement stressed that ministry inspection
teams will continue their intensive inspection campaigns in all areas of the
kingdom to ensure citizens have uninterrupted access to water and to bring
violators who illegally siphon water to justice.
