Bahti said that the infected persons were referred to
gastroenterologists at government hospitals while those who have been in
contact with them were vaccinated. 53
people who were in contact with the infected received the first dose of the
vaccine, with two more to go at one-month intervals.
The directorate held 34 educational and awareness sessions
about hepatitis B and C diseases including treatment and means of infection,
most importantly transmission through blood.
Bahti explained that the directorate is monitoring barbershops
and physical therapy centers that perform cupping to ensure control over the
transmission of the virus through strict preventative measures, hygiene and
sterilization of used tools.
Bahti said that the blood bank in Zarqa Governorate undertakes
blood sample inspections to eliminate any potential contamination with hepatitis
B and C, HIV, and sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis and gonorrhea.
211 doses of vaccines have been administered since the
beginning of 2022, according to Bahri, who called on citizens to take
preventive measures at home and not to share personal items, like shaving
machines and toothbrushes.
