AMMAN — In the first nine months of this
year, 275,439 tourists visited
Madaba, most of them from the US, Italy, France,
Spain and Germany, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Director of Madaba Tourism Wael Al-Janeini said in a
press statement on Saturday that Mount Nebo witnessed the highest number of
visitors, 275,439, followed by the Church of the Map, with 167,857 tourists,
the Madaba Visitor Center, 113,800 tourists, the Church of the Apostles and the
Archaeological Park, 7,450 tourists, the Dead Sea Panorama, 30,737 tourists,
Ma’in Spa, 21,449 tourists, and Mukawir, 7,247 tourists.
He added that there are 110 tourist facilities in Madaba, employing 782
people — 20 hotels, 29 tourist restaurants, 26 craft operators, 30 stores, and
five tourism and travel offices — and pointed out that visitors to the city
from different governorates ranked second; their number increased to 33,000.
