Faraya added on Thursday that 36 kilograms of heroin were seized, while the amount seized did not exceed one kilogram last year.
He pointed out that Jordan is suffering because of the inability of neighboring countries to control their borders.
He added that there are internal problems in some neighboring countries that lead to gaps through which drug smugglers enter.
He pointed out that the Public Security Directorate (
PSD) has developed a strategic plan to deal with drugs, adding that there has been a noticeable decline in the number of drug abuse cases and an increase in the number of trafficking cases, amid a noticeable increase in the quantities of recently seized drugs.
Faraya described drugs as a transnational organized crime, adding that Jordan is a pathway for drugs only and not a settling home for them.
