The event also revealed that, in the two

initiative.
The One Million Jordanian Coders Initiative
aims to train one million Jordanian youth in programming and coding techniques
through free online training courses and the granting of accredited
international certificates.
Established in May 2019, the iniative is
implemented by the Crown Prince Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of
Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and in cooperation with the Ministry of
Cabinet Affairs and the Future in the United Arab Emirates.
In his speech at the ceremony, the Minister
of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed Hanandeh, said, “the One Million
Jordanian Coders Initiative is keen to develop the digital skills of the sons
and daughters of Jordan, enable them to keep pace with the rapid development in
computer science and its software, and provide them with access to job
opportunities that enable them to employ their skills.”
Hanandeh stressed that the initiative,
which is under the patronage of His Highness,
Crown Prince Al Hussein binAbdullah II, aims to empower Jordanian youth with the language of the future,
"the programming language", to make
Jordan a global resource for
future skills and a center for digital creativity, which contributes to the development
of the digital economy sector in the Kingdom.
Hanandeh also expressed his
appreciation to the
UAE for its cooperation and support for the initiative. One
Million Jordanian Coders comes within a package of strategic initiatives and
projects that enhance the partnership between the two countries.
One of the initiative’s graduates,
Ammar Jaber, spoke at the event to praise the efficiency of the teaching staff
and the scientific and practical materials provided by the initiative. Jabber had
successfully completed the Android application programming track, and additionally
received a nano certificate provided by the global platform Udasty.
Dr.
Tammam Mango, Executive Director of the Crown Prince Foundation, said, "We
aspire, through One Million Jordanian Coders, to qualify the largest possible
number of young men and women for the labor market, and to provide them with
science and knowledge in programming as the language of the age."
She
added, "We must point out the importance of programming globally.
Sixty-five percent of the jobs available during the next ten years are jobs
that do not currently exist, and forty-five percent of the current jobs will be
automated in the coming years … the world is progressing and we must keep pace
with these developments and bridge the technical gap.”
The partnerships official for the
initiative, Muhammad Al-Efrangi, said that the initiative provides free online
training programs in the field of programming at multiple levels, and grants
the affiliates accredited international certificates that qualify them to enter
the labor market. He added, “The participant can access (the training)
electronically at the time and place he wants, and all he needs is access to
the Internet.”
Efranji
told Jordan News: "Our next step is to encourage and attract the largest
number of young people by continuing to learn and join the initiative. The
initiative was launched in 2019 and we are continuing to implement our goal.
The number of registered people on the platform so far has reached 30,000, to
benefit from 40,000 courses."
