AMMAN – Tourist income increased by 34.7
percent during the first ten months of 2023 compared to the corresponding
period in 2022, reaching a total of JD4.6 billion, according to a press release
from the Central Bank on Tuesday.

Preliminary data from the Central Bank
reported by Al-Mamlaka TV indicated a growth of 11.7 percent in tourist income
during October 2023 compared to the same month in 2022, amounting to JD435.9
million.
The growth was driven by an increase in the
number of tourists, reaching 5,560.1 thousand tourists with a growth rate of
34.1 percent. This was the result of an increase in the number of overnight
tourists to 4,656.9 thousand, with a growth rate of 31.8 percent, while the
number of day tourists reached 903.2 thousand, with a growth rate of 47.4
percent.
At the same time, foreign tourist spending
increased by 30.9 percent, totaling JD1,152.3 million.
