AMMAN – According to Al-Ghad, on Monday, the Anti-Narcotics
Department worked with Jordanian customs and security authorities to intercept
an effort to smuggle substantial amounts of drugs through the
Jaber Border Crossing.

According to a representative for the
Public Security Directorate (PSD), the Anti-Narcotics Department obtained information regarding
regional groupings and gangs preparing huge amounts of
drugs for smuggling from
Jordan to a neighboring nation. The spokeswoman verified that when the
suspected shipment van arrived and attempted to cross the border, it was
stopped and searched. 4.2 million narcotic pills, weighing almost 700kg, were
discovered in secret compartments within the truck. Investigations have begun
to identify the individuals involved in the case.
Simultaneously, the
Anti-Narcotics Department at the Jaber
Border Crossing seized 3.5kg of crystal meth after receiving information about
someone attempting to smuggle it into the Kingdom. The car utilized in the
operation was stopped, and the drugs stashed within it were seized. Following a
thorough investigation, three people were identified and detained. They were
all referred to the
Public Prosecutor of the State Security Court.
