AMMAN — The number of
Jordanians enrolled in the voluntary
social security retirement program has reached 44,000, according to Musa
Al-Subeihi, an advisor of Social Insurance. On his Facebook page, Subeihi
highlighted that the number of voluntary participants in the
social security system has risen to 93,000 active individuals, accounting for 6.2 percent of
the total insured population, Saraya News reported.

Eligible individuals include expats, homemaker’s students
over 16, and self-employed workers. Contributions are based on an assumed
monthly salary of 17.5 percent, which in turn, provides
coverage for retirement, disability, and death insurance with various pension options
available for participants.
