AMMAN — Chief Islamic Justice Abdel Hafez
Al-Rabtah said Tuesday that the rate of divorce cases had reached 5.8 percent
during 2021, according to Khaberni.

His statements came during the presentation of the
statistical report for 2021, which includes indicators such as the number of
cases considered in Sharia courts and the number of marriage and divorce
contracts.
According to the report, the
Islamic Justice Department examined 700,000 transactions in 2021, with the number of family
cards issued to beneficiaries reaching 74,000, an increase of 45 percent.
The number of marriages increased to 76,000, while
the marriage of minors decreased by 1.2 percent. The report indicated that the
Department of the Chief Justice refused to approve dozens of cases of marriage
of persons under 18 years of age.
The report
indicated that the rate of divorce cases amounted to 5.8 percent, while the
Alimony Credit Fund spent about JD1.6 million.
