AMMAN — The
Ministry of Social Development said on Saturday it is forming a committee to purchase apartments
for five families who lost their homes as a result of the collapse of an
apartment building in the Jabal Luweibdeh area in Amman, thanks to a Royal
grant, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

“Based on Royal directives, the five families
will receive permanent apartments, at a maximum of JD50,000 per apartment,” the
ministry said in a statement.
On September 14, 14 people died and 10 were
injured when an apartment building collapsed onto another building in the
Luweibdeh area.
The ministry said that it provided cash and
in-kind assistance to all those affected by the collapse of the building,
noting that the amounts ranged from JD2,500 to 15,000.
The ministry said that “the value of the cash donated
for the benefit of the affected people amounted to JD76,417.470, including
JD37,692.470 through the eFawateercom platform.”
