AMMAN — On Saturday, a military official said that the armed
clashes between Jordanian Border Guard forces and the
Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) with smugglers at the
Syrian border resulted in five smugglers killed, 15
arrested, and one injured. In addition, weapons and
narcotics were seized,
Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

No casualties were reported among border guards, the source
stated, adding that smugglers exploit winter weather to increase their
operations across the borders.
