AMMAN —
The Social Security Corporation (SSC) said on Monday that 6,000 retirees
obtained consumer credit cards during the first day of their distribution.

The SSC added in a
statement to Al-Mamlaka TV that 15,000 cards were distributed on Monday, amid a
clear turnout by retirees.
The SSC announced
consumer advances that will be allocated to retirees at the rate of JD100 for
those whose salary is less than JD300, JD150 for those whose salary ranges
between JD300 and JD500, and JD200 for those whose salary is higher. These
advances will be repaid in installments over nine months without charging
interest.
The SSC indicated
that the advance is in the form of shopping cards for the purchase of goods
from all branches of the Military Consumer Corporation, at a value of JD50 per
card, which were allocated to Jordanian social security retirees, residents
from the Gaza Strip and children of Jordanian mothers, as well as widows
entitled to a share of the salary of their deceased husbands and parents who
are entitled to a share of the salary of deceased children.
