Minister of Transport stated that the government agreed to license 6 smart ride-share applications, which employ about 13,000 Jordanians, while the number of unlicensed applications was estimated at about 28, most of which operate from outside Jordan, which negatively affects smart application companies, licensed and yellow taxis, as they will not be able to fulfill their financial obligations in light of unfair competition by applications without licenses.

Abu Al-Saman stressed the need to work in accordance with the law and take strict measures to stop tampering with the smart transportation sector, as they harm other companies and drivers who abide by the law and the tax and fees payments.

For his part, Hanandeh said that encouraging public transport service through smart applications should serve three main goals; organizing the passenger transport sector, improving the level of service, and creating job opportunities, pointing to the importance of benefiting from smart applications in raising the level of workers in the sector through training and rehabilitation.
