AMMAN – On Wednesday, Haditha Al-Khreisha, the
Minister for Political and Parliamentary Affairs, said that the total number of
party members, after the approval of the Political Parties Law, has reached
60,000 citizens joining 30 parties, while their number was 22,000 joining 54
parties before the approval of this law.

This came during the minister’s meeting with
the
Rural and Badia Committee, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.
He added that the Ministry worked on raising
awareness about the political parties and election laws by holding several
meetings in various regions of the Kingdom and providing the
Council of Ministers with the results of those meetings.
He stated that higher education institutions
amended national education materials and began teaching national subjects in
the first semester of the academic year 2023/2024.
Khreisha explained that the parties are ready
to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, saying that the parties
are capable of presenting their programs, as the political arena witnessed the
establishment of new
parties during the past two years.
“There are two governorates where the
affiliation rates to the parties are still unconvincing and very few,” he said
without naming them, indicating that the countryside and desert regions
“receive government attention through intensifying and raising the level of
services in them, and sensing the needs of their residents to reduce
migration.”
He continued that the countryside and desert
regions are very involved in political issues compared to other regions.
Khreisha stressed that
Jordan is a country that respects diversity and all orientations, pointing out that what
distinguishes the next stage is the allocation of 41 seats in the House of
Representatives to the parties, and this share will increase to 50 percent next
time, then 65 percent for candidates from parties after that.
