The Ministry of Social Development revealed on Monday that it had arrested 740 beggars during the month of February, following 412 anti-begging campaigns carried out by the Directorate of Anti-Begging.

In its report for the month of February, the ministry also stated that it had processed 9,240 cases related to social studies aimed at granting health insurance to poor families, 175 cases for medical treatment exemptions, and 50 cases for settling inheritance rights.
The report also highlighted that 50 children were placed in childcare facilities, while 44 children were discharged from these facilities, and 10 children were handed over to foster families.
According to the report, the number of juveniles benefiting from the services of the ministry's juvenile care and rehabilitation centers reached 213, with 74 juveniles benefiting from vocational rehabilitation programs. Additionally, 51 working children in violation of labor laws received psychological and social services based on case management methodology, in cooperation with field directorates and partner organizations. The report also mentioned that 9 juveniles received legal assistance.
Regarding the general register of associations, the total number of registered and active associations under the existing Associations Law reached 6,118. Seven new associations were registered, while 71 associations requested amendments to their bylaws. Additionally, 28 associations were dissolved, 12 temporary bodies concluded their work, and 11 temporary bodies remain active, with 10 committees having completed their work.
Regarding the National Aid Fund’s operations, the report stated that 1,795 families benefited from regular and emergency cash aid programs, while a total of 47,611 families received monthly financial assistance. Furthermore, 172 families benefited from the training program, and the response rate to calls received by the fund was 91%.
