8.13 Million Square Meters of Licensed Buildings Recorded in 11 Months of 2024

Amman– The total licensed building area in Jordan during the first 11 months of 2024 reached approximately 8.13 million square meters, compared to 8.70 million square meters during the same period in 2023, reflecting a 6.6% decrease.اضافة اعلان

According to the monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics today, Sunday, the total number of building permits issued in the Kingdom by the end of November 2024 was around 21,708, compared to 22,552 permits during the same period in 2023, a decline of 3.7%.

Breakdown by Purpose
Residential Purposes: Licensed areas amounted to 6.51 million square meters in the first 11 months of 2024, compared to 7.20 million square meters in 2023, a 9.6% decrease.

Non-Residential Purposes: Licensed areas increased to 1.61 million square meters, up from 1.50 million square meters in 2023, marking a 7.3% rise.
Residential purposes accounted for 80.2% of the total licensed building area, while non-residential purposes made up 19.8%.

Regional Distribution
Central Region: Represented 67% of the total licensed building area, an increase of 1.5% from the same period in 2023.

Northern Region: Accounted for 23.2%, showing an 8.3% decline.
Southern Region: Comprised 9.8%, reflecting a 12.6% rise compared to 2023.

Per Capita Residential Space
Balqa Governorate recorded the highest per capita share of newly licensed residential spaces at 13.2%, equating to 0.821 square meters per person.

Mafraq Governorate recorded the lowest per capita share at 4.1%, with 0.255 square meters per person.

Building Types
New Constructions and Additions: Licensed areas for new buildings and extensions constituted 63.2% of the total, while existing buildings accounted for 36.8%.

The total area licensed for new buildings and additions was 5.135 million square meters, down from 5.674 million square meters in 2023, representing a 9.5% decrease.

November 2024 Highlights
In November 2024 alone, the licensed building area reached 864,000 square meters, compared to 761,000 square meters in November 2023, reflecting a 13.5% increase.
