PRESS RELEASE — The Main Executive Committee for Women and Family Affairs of the Mithaq Party
(the National Charter Party) condemns all forms of aggression by the Israeli

the Gaza Strip.

The Women's Committee denounces the Israeli practices towards our Palestinian
Arab people – practices that violate all international moral standards and
international human rights. The Israeli Occupation Authorities are bombing
civilians everywhere in Gaza, including in hospitals, schools, places of
worship, and in their homes, where they should have the right to be safe.
The committee expresses its deep concern for the people of Gaza,
especially its children and women, and warns of the psychological and social
impacts they face. Human rights are indivisible, and are not based on the
interests of states, or on people’s cultural, religious, social, or ethnic
backgrounds. Murder is heinous, regardless of the background, religion, race or
gender of the murdered person.
Sadly, women in war were the easiest target in the battles of the twentieth
century and have now also become the easiest targets in the battles of the
twenty-first.
The current events in Palestine, and specifically in the Gaza
Strip, are escalating. This coincides with the 22nd anniversary of Resolution
1325 – a resolution that paved the way for Palestinian women to express their
opinions, share their ideas, and put pressure on decision-makers to transform
the policies of bloody violence into frameworks for dialogue. Women constitute the basic pillar of every
society and bear the calamities directly when they fall on them and indirectly
when they fall on their children and on their husbands.
Resolution 1325, which was the first official
and legal document issued by the UN Security Council in this regard, requires
the parties to a conflict to respect women’s rights and support their
participation in peace negotiations and in social reconstruction and political
cohesion in the post-conflict phase.
The number of martyrs and wounded in Gaza is increasing by the
minute. It has now exceeded 3,500
martyrs, most of whom are children, women and the sick. There are countless numbers of people missing
and countless more trapped under the rubble.
The committee is shocked that hospitals have been bombed, the
most recent of which was the Baptist Hospital.
Today we stand bewildered by the position of the international
community regarding a most powerful force that is violating international laws
and ignoring all international values and morals.
We, in the Mithaq Party’s Women and Family Affairs Committee, appreciate Jordan’s
position, and the position of Arab, Islamic and other countries that reject the
Israeli aggression in all its forms. We
stand in respect for the position of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al
Hussein, who considers the aggression taking place in Gaza tantamount to war
crimes, and has rejected all forms of displacement of the Palestinians, and has
called for the need to ensure that Palestinians remain steadfast in their land,
and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. We are also
proud of the valiant position of the Jordanian people, from all sects,
components, and origins and their appropriate stance in unity towards their
leadership for the sake of Palestine and its great people.
In this context, we stress the need to immediately stop the aggression, end the
unjust siege on Gaza, provide international protection for the Palestinian
people, hold the Israeli Occupation Authorities accountable for their inhumane
crimes, and end all forms of discrimination in dealing with world issues.
Blessed are every Gazan and Palestinian woman.
Blessed are all the people of Palestine. We pray to God to have mercy on
the martyrs, to heal the wounded, and to inspire in the bereaved patience and
determination. God is capable of all things.
