ACI’s 2023 exports: JD7.17 billion

AMMAN — The Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) disclosed its 2023 export figures, indicating a total value of JD7.172 billion, slightly lower than the previous year's JD7.579 billion. Statistical data from the Jordan News Agency (Petra) revealed growth in six sectors, including a 3 percent rise in packaging and a remarkable 48 percent surge in construction. Conversely, four sectors saw declines, ranging from 1 percent in leather to 19 percent in mining and furniture.اضافة اعلان

Arab and foreign countries constituted over half of ACI's exports, with India, the US, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq being the top destinations, totaling JD4.047 billion. Exports to the US rose 18 percent to JD1.153 billion, while exports to Saudi Arabia increased by 6 percent, reaching JD808 million. Exports to Iraq surged by 22 percent to JD875 million. However, exports to India declined by 16 percent to JD1.211 billion. Geographically, Arab countries led with JD3.304 billion, followed by non-Arab Asian countries with JD1.900 billion, and African countries with JD65 million.

In 2023, the breakdown of exports to different regions included JD1.215 billion to North America, JD104 million to South America, JD305 million to the European Union, JD170 million to European countries outside the Union, and JD109 million to other countries. Across sectors, mining led at JD2.165 billion, followed by chemicals and cosmetics at JD1.255 billion, and engineering, electrical, and IT at JD1.050 billion. Additional sectors included catering, food, agriculture, and livestock at JD746 million, therapeutic and medical supplies at JD686 million, and leather and knitwear at JD464 million.

The remaining exports were allocated to packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies (JD298 million), plastic and rubber industries (JD272 million), construction (JD218 million), and wood and furniture industries (JD18 million). Established in 1962, the ACI comprises 8,600 industrial establishments with 159,000 workers and a total capital of about JD5 billion.
