AND nabs 5 drug dealers; seizes large quantity of narcotic pills-PSD

AMMAN - The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) dealt with two drug cases and arrested 5 suspects, in possession of a large amount of narcotic pills. In a statement on Thursday, the Public Security Directorate (PSD)'s media spokesperson said the AND's continuous anti-drug campaigns dealt over the past few days with two cases of possession and smuggling of narcotic substances and arrested 5 suspects. In the first incident, the AND agents arrested a person after tracking tips about his possession of a large amount of narcotic pills, south of the capital Amman. During investigation, the suspect admitted to possessing 140,000 narcotic pills that were hidden in a house, which were then confiscated. In the second case, the AND personnel raided a truck and seized a large amount of narcotic substances hidden in a secret compartment, in preparation for smuggling. Four people involved in the case were nabbed and referred to the judiciary, the spokesperson said.
