The
Greater Amman Municipality often uses
the lights on the bridge to commemorate events and holidays, for example they
light it blue for World Cancer Day, every February 4 and orange for the
International Day of Peace, every September 21.
Abdoun bridge finished construction in
2006, and cost JD10 to JD15 million to build. In 2010 it was rebranded as the
Kamal Shair Bridge in honor of Dar Al-Handasah Consultant’s founder Kamal
Shair, after his children made a significant contribution of $750,000 to the
bridge’s maintenance.
