He highlighted the importance of enhancing storage capacity in dams and adopting the best modern technologies in this field.

During the scientific day organized by the Ministry on Monday in cooperation with the Jordan Engineers Association on dams and water harvesting, Abu Saud noted that water harvesting is becoming increasingly important given the water challenges faced by the region. This is due to the need for sustainable water management solutions.

He emphasized that implementing water harvesting techniques, such as constructing small dams, groundwater reservoirs, earthen ponds, and installing rainwater collection systems on rooftops, helps reduce water loss, improve resource sustainability, and enhance the ability of rural and urban communities to cope with water scarcity.

He stressed the importance of raising awareness about the significance of water harvesting, encouraging its use in various sectors, and supporting it through government policies, innovative technological investments, and involving the private sector to achieve effective management of water resources.

He also pointed out the importance of collaboration between different institutions to achieve national goals for water management and sustainability, and developing strategies to ensure the optimal use of available water resources.

For his part, Engineer Hisham Al-Haysa, Secretary General of the Jordan Valley Authority, emphasized that the scientific day is part of efforts to strengthen cooperation with syndicates and university experts within the framework of the national water strategy and the strategy of the Jordan Valley Authority. He noted the importance of integrating science, knowledge, and application in the water sector, especially in light of the many challenges facing Jordan's water sector.
Meanwhile, Engineer Khaled Al-Shawabkeh, President of the Jordan Engineers Association, stated that the scientific day focuses on how to manage water resources in a country suffering from severe water scarcity, pointing out the role of dams in addressing these challenges.

He emphasized that dams play a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability of water resources in the face of climate change.

Al-Shawabkeh also stressed the importance of increasing national investments in infrastructure that enhance water security, especially technologies at the household, farm, and institutional levels.

The event included discussions and lectures by experts in water, agriculture, and climate change fields, providing participants with an opportunity to exchange views on ways to collaborate between the authority, universities, and syndicates to enhance scientific research and development.
