AMMAN — The
Jordan Valley Authority (JVA), and the Royal Jordanian Engineering Corps (RJEC) signed an agreement to clean and remove sediment and silt from the Mujib Dam, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

On Monday, a statement by the authority said that the deal, signed by JVA acting secretary-general Manar Mahasna, and the director of the RJEC, Brig. Gen. Imad Khamaiseh, aims to maintain the dam’s storage capacity, gearing up for the upcoming rainy season.
The agreement came as part of a memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides concerning the exchange of expertise and heavy engineering machinery needed to implement water harvesting projects, excavations, and earth dams.
According to a statement, the two parties have begun cleaning the Mujib Dam, which has 29 million cubic meters of water storage capacity and is used for drinking, irrigation, and other industrial uses.
