Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Al-Kharabsheh
stressed the importance of the agreement to help Lebanon in accordance with His
Majesty’s instructions to stand with the people of Lebanon and support them in
overcoming the obstacles they are facing in the energy sector.
The agreement provided for approximately 150 megawatts of
electricity for Lebanon from midnight to 6am and 250 megawatts during the rest
of the day.
Minister Kharabsheh confirmed that the project will benefit
the Jordanian electric system, where Lebanon will be supplied from the transportation
networks directly. Furthermore, he noted that the sale of electricity to
Lebanon will not result in any disruption of the Jordanian electrical system as
the cost of distribution will not be included in the sale price.
