The minister said the government is working "seriously" to reform the Kingdom's electricity sector within the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV).

Kharabsheh made the remarks at a dialogue within activities of the Jordanian Strategy Forum Wednesday to talk about the financial reform plan for Jordan's electricity sector in light of the EMV.

In this context, the minister added that reforms aim to achieve financial justice among all the sector's stakeholders , which contributes to its sustainability and enhances its role in the Kingdom's economic development.

Kharabsheh noted the Kingdom's energy sector is making progress with "steady positive" steps, stressing the importance of energy sector investments in achieving reasonable financial profits to ensure their sustainability for the coming years.

Kharabsheh said the ministry is continuing with the project to deliver natural gas to Jordan's various industrial areas, referring to multiple new projects aimed at supporting the industrial sector.

To date, he pointed out that 27% of the electricity generated in Jordan comes from renewable energy sources, stressing that the new renewable energy facilities regulation bylaw currently in place is "fair and based on successful international practices."

The ministry, he noted, continues to make progress in legislation related to the green hydrogen strategy, which reflects Jordan's commitment to shift towards clean energy.

Furthermore, he stated the electricity storage project using hydroelectric power in the Mujib Dam will have a capacity of up to 450 megawatts.

This project represents part of the government's efforts to improve Jordan's energy infrastructure and enhance its ability to meet the growing needs, he pointed out.
