AMMAN — In light of the tensions between
Russia and the Ukraine, the Kingdom’s airlines can request permission to
operate flights from the Ukrainian capital and Amman, according to Chairman of
the
Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission Haitham Misto.

The Kingdom’s airlines do not operate regular
flights between Amman and Kyiv, Misto said, according to Khaberni News.
A Ukrainian airline company does operate flights
between the two cities on a weekly basis, and any Jordanian airline can operate
charter flights upon request, under an agreement signed between Jordan and
Ukraine.
The agency has not
received any requests to that effect to date, Misto said, adding that “a
decision to operate such flights will be based on travelers’ demand and in
coordination with travel agencies.”
The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on
Saturday issued a travel advisory to Jordanians, urging them to avoid traveling
to Ukraine given the latest geopolitical developments.
The ministry’s move came after the
US and a number of
European countries asked their diplomats and citizens to leave Ukraine.
