On International Women's Day, Dr. Khaleel Al-Abdallat, Director of the Human Rights Unit at the Prime Ministry, expressed pride in the achievements of Jordanian women, highlighting that these accomplishments are the result of the wise vision of the Hashemite leadership, and the commitment of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Her Majesty Queen Rania Abdullah to solidify the role of women as essential partners in building the state and enhancing their status across various fields.اضافة اعلان

He added that His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II continues to support young Jordanian women through quality initiatives that focus on skill development, innovation encouragement, and promoting women's participation in fields such as technology and entrepreneurship, enabling them to compete in the labor market.

Al-Abdallat pointed out that recent years have witnessed fundamental reforms that have strengthened the position of women and guaranteed their rights. The recent constitutional amendments affirmed the principle of equality and non-discrimination, further boosting women's involvement in public and political life. Moreover, the political, economic, and public sector reforms have played a vital role in opening new horizons for women and providing a supportive environment for their participation in decision-making processes at both the national and local levels.

He explained that the Jordanian government, based on royal directives, has adopted policies and legislations aimed at empowering women and ensuring equal opportunities, such as enhancing women's representation in elected councils, launching economic programs to support women-led entrepreneurial projects, and reinforcing legal and social protection for women in various sectors.

In recent years, significant amendments have been made to the Labor Law to improve the working environment for women, ensuring equal opportunities between men and women, and providing greater support to working mothers, thus enhancing their economic and social stability.

Al-Abdallat emphasized that it is now essential to elevate women's roles across different sectors, particularly in political and parliamentary work. Parliamentary committees play a crucial role in shaping legislations and policies that support women's rights, ensuring their empowerment in decision-making positions.

Political parties are also called upon to adopt more effective strategies to enhance women's participation in the political scene by creating an encouraging environment for them to engage in party work and support their candidacy in parliamentary and municipal elections.

Al-Abdallat highlighted the pivotal role of the Jordanian National Commission for Women in formulating national policies that promote women's rights, ensuring their issues are integrated into development plans, thereby solidifying a comprehensive approach that enhances women's position in society.

He stated, "Economic empowerment of women is a fundamental step towards achieving sustainable development, as recent economic reforms provide more opportunities for women in entrepreneurship and innovation. The government, in partnership with the private sector, has supported small and medium-sized businesses run by women and provided training programs aimed at enhancing their capacity to enter local and global markets, contributing to increasing their participation in the national economy."

Al-Abdallat affirmed the role of Jordanian universities in empowering and supporting women through the development of educational curricula and scientific research that enhance women's roles in the economy and society. He added that higher education institutions have become incubators for creativity and innovation, providing Jordanian female students with academic and professional opportunities that strengthen their leadership roles across various fields.

He pointed out that civil society institutions, national organizations, and international organizations form a key pillar in promoting women's rights, as they work to provide necessary support to women, raise awareness of their issues, and ensure the protection of their rights by connecting with government entities and the private sector.

Al-Abdallat also noted that Jordan celebrates this occasion by showcasing its significant achievements in supporting refugee women, being a distinguished model in providing protection and care for refugee women under the leadership of His Majesty the King. He emphasized that Jordan continues to make efforts to ensure the rights of refugee women by providing health, educational, social services, and empowering them economically.

He further added that Jordan has collaborated with international organizations and civil society to enhance the ability of refugee women to overcome the challenges they face through programs that promote their participation in local communities and empower them in education and work. He emphasized that women's rights are an integral part of human rights, and supporting refugee women is part of Jordan's ongoing commitment to humanity and equality.

Al-Abdallat concluded by stating, "Our vision for the future is based on building a state of law and institutions that ensures the principles of equality, justice, and fairness. Women possess all the tools to realize their ambitions and contribute effectively to the development of society. Today, as we celebrate the achievements of Jordanian women, we affirm that the journey continues, and Jordan, under its wise leadership, is moving forward in empowering women and enhancing their roles, not only for their sake but for a brighter future for Jordan and all Jordanians."
