Dr. Waleed Al-Halabi, a
kidney transplant consultant and
head of the Department of Internal Medicine, stated that the team was informed
about a brain-dead patient in one of Amman’s hospitals.
The procedure took place on January 16-17 for a 50-year-old
patient who had been suffering from kidney failure and difficulties with
dialysis for five years.
Dr. Halabi highlighted the unique challenges of such
operations, including potential complications from immunosuppressive treatments
during transplantation and the risk of kidney rejection. However, they overcame
these difficulties, and the patient is now in good health approximately one
month after the surgery. He will be discharged today.
