Raed Rafeed Al Khattab, Director of the Meteorological Department, stated that since the early hours of last Wednesday, the Kingdom has been affected by a period of atmospheric instability, resulting in varying intensities of rainfall across most areas. The heaviest rainfall was concentrated in the southern and eastern regions and parts of the central areas, accompanied by thunder and hail in some regions, which led to flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas.

Al Khattab explained that the rainfall during this weather event contributed to improving the performance of the current rainy season (2024/2025), with totals ranging between 1% to 53% of the seasonal average, especially in the southern and eastern parts of the Kingdom.
The Ma'an observation station recorded the highest percentage of the seasonal average at 53%, while the Ghor Al Safi station recorded the highest amount of rainfall during this recent weather event, with 33.0 mm.
Here are the highest rainfall amounts recorded during the recent weather event based on the percentage of the seasonal average:
Ma'an Observation Station: 22.1 mm (53%)
Ghor Al Safi Observation Station: 33.0 mm (45%)
Southern Azraq Observation Station: 24.3 mm (41%)
Wadi Al Dhaleel Observation Station: 24.5 mm (18%)
Tafila Observation Station: 27.0 mm (14%)
Queen Alia International Airport Observation Station: 14.6 mm (11%)
Shoubak Observation Station: 24.4 mm (10%)
Ruba Observation Station: 27.3 mm (8%)
Amman Civil Airport Observation Station: 10.0 mm (7%)
Al Khattab noted that the rainfall still remains below its expected averages across all regions of the Kingdom up to this date, and he hopes the Kingdom will experience more rainfall in the coming period.
