AMMAN — The Director-General of the
Hussein Fund for Excellence and Creativity, Dr. Ali Yaghi, revealed that the fund is launching
new projects in the current year 2024, coinciding with the silver jubilee of
His
Majesty King Abdullah II's reign. In an interview with the Jordan News
Agency, Petra, Dr. Yaghi highlighted that one of the key activities for the
year is the launch of the graduation projects program for
Jordanian university
students in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation for the year 2024.
This program aligns with the national priorities outlined in the
Kingdom's economic reform plan.

He mentioned that the fund is seeking innovative ideas that
have a positive impact on society, especially those providing employment
opportunities for youth and transforming their creative ideas into projects.
This ensures an increase in economic activities and provides investment
opportunities for utilizing the talents of the youth.
Dr. Yaghi stated that the fund had launched the Hussein Fund
Awards in agriculture and food security in collaboration with the
National Center for Agricultural Research. The awards covered three fields: plant
production, animal production, and water and the environment.
Regarding ongoing initiatives, Dr. Yaghi mentioned that the
fund continues to evaluate scientific submissions from the third cycle of the
Hussein Fund Awards for Economic Research 2023. The number of fields covered by
the award increased, focusing on green economy, financial technology, and labor
economics. The fund is also preparing to launch the fourth cycle of the same
awards.
In the realm of supporting excellence and innovation, Dr.
Yaghi mentioned that the fund is sponsoring the "
First National Competition for Semiconductor Design" organized by the Fifth Industrial
Revolution Company. This project plays a role in preparing Jordanian engineers
and technicians to engage in an industry that shapes the future of the global
economy. Additionally, the fund is considering launching a competition on
"
Artificial Intelligence in Financial Technology" for Jordanian
university students.
Established in 1999 under the royal patronage of the Social
Responsibility Arm of the Banking Sector in Jordan, the Hussein Fund for
Excellence and Creativity aims to be a center encouraging innovation,
excellence, and sustainable development in Jordan. It contributes to the
development and nurturing of creativity in technological and developmental
fields, talent development, and providing opportunities for creative
expression.
Dr. Yaghi emphasized that the fund, in collaboration with
the National Center for Agricultural Research, is launching a communication
campaign to promote the awards among farmers and those interested in
agriculture across various regions of the Kingdom. This aims to ensure the
submission of creative ideas in the agricultural field.
Notable projects
Regarding notable projects executed by the fund in line with
its mission and vision, Dr. Yaghi mentioned the announcement of the results and
approval of the second cycle of the Hussein Fund Awards for Economic Research
launched in 2022. Additionally, the seventh cycle results of the Hussein Fund
Awards for Child Culture in 2022 were approved, and the winning books were
printed for distribution to various cultural, educational, and public
institutions.
Dr. Yaghi highlighted the fund's financial support for the
"Hope Project," affiliated with the Welfare Fund for Orphans, aiming
to cover university study costs for orphans under the care of the Welfare Fund.
The fund also continued its support for the Ministry of Education's team
participating in the
International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in the
United States for the year 2023. Moreover, the fund supported the team from the
Al-Hussein Technical University to participate in the Solar Energy competition
in Texas.
The fund executed several projects and provided financial
support, including the "Little Galileo in Science, Technology, and Arts
for Children" project, sponsored by the Karak Creativity Club. Other
supported initiatives include the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, talent
support under the Ministry of Culture for 2023, and training teachers and
educational staff on media education by the Jordan Media Institute, supervised
by the Ministry of Government Communication.
Dr. Yaghi concluded by mentioning the fund's financial
support for various national projects. One notable project is the
"Reviving the Arab Children's Song Festival," organized by the
Ministry of Culture, contributing to the national program for promoting
financial culture – financial education in schools. The fund also awarded Dr.
Haitham Sukaria the Hussein Fund Award for Artistic Creativity for composing
and conducting the symphony of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
