Amman – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Al-Safadi, emphasized the critical role of Jordan’s industrial sector as a cornerstone of the national economy and the importance of addressing challenges to ensure its continued efficiency and growth.

This came during a meeting held on Sunday with the President and members of the Jordan Chamber of Industry.
The visit was coordinated with the Parliamentary Committees on Energy and Mineral Resources and Economy and Investment, in the presence of several parliamentarians and industry leaders.
Al-Safadi stressed the need to implement the comprehensive modernization directives initiated by His Majesty King Abdullah II.
He highlighted the significance of economic modernization and the Parliament’s commitment to empowering the industrial and commercial sectors to overcome obstacles and achieve progress.
He pointed to significant opportunities for Jordan’s industrial and commercial sectors, particularly in reconstruction efforts in Gaza and Syria.
He underlined the importance of collaboration between Parliament and the industrial sector to overcome challenges and support the sector’s continued successes.
The President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbir, emphasized the importance of enhancing partnerships between Parliament and the industrial sector.
He noted that this collaboration is crucial amid local and regional economic challenges, aligning with the Economic Modernization Vision.
Al-Jaghbir highlighted that the industrial sector is the primary driver of comprehensive economic growth, contributing 40% of the economic growth achieved by the end of the third quarter of the previous year.
He added that the sector employs 21% of the workforce and supports over one million Jordanians.
He proposed forming a joint committee between Parliament’s relevant economic committees and the Jordan Chamber of Industry to regularly address challenges and legislative issues facing the sector.
Parliamentarians reiterated their commitment to supporting the industrial sector, with MP Khaled Abu Hassan emphasizing the importance of leveraging regional opportunities to increase production and create jobs.
Energy Committee Chairman MP Haitham Ziadin highlighted the committee’s ongoing collaboration with the industrial sector to address its needs and challenges, recognizing its pivotal role in the national economy.
During the meeting, the MPs presented solutions and proposals to strengthen the industrial sector, while Dr. Nael Al-Husami, Director-General of the Amman Chamber of Industry, provided an overview of the sector’s contributions to economic growth and job creation.
