AMMAN — The Amman Group for Future Dialogues warned in a statement on Tuesday of a “major and dangerous social explosion”, contending that the conditions that led to the gas leak at the Aqaba Port are present in most ministries, institutions, and departments of the state, which builds up anger and tension among citizens who deal with these entities.اضافة اعلان

The group said that the report by the investigation committee, headed by the minister of interior, confirmed that negligent practices, flaunted safety regulations, a lack of leadership, and biased recruitment, among others, led to the chlorine gas leak on June 27.

All these elements of negligence and indifference cited in the report are found in an “overwhelming majority” of government departments, the group said; a fact that is consistently referred to in the media. The group stressed that this state of affairs is bound to have “serious” consequences if not addressed.

The group called for a complete reform of the government’s administrative institutions to put an end to ongoing indifference and negligence.
