AMMAN —
Ministry of Water and Irrigation
spokesman Omar Salama said that additional quantities of water, consisting of
an estimated 10 percent increase, will be pumped to the areas in Amman, Zarqa,
and Balqa that will witness an interruption in pumping from the Disi water
system next week, Khaberni reported.

The interruption was scheduled for an annual system
maintenance, as the ministry carries out periodic maintenance on water
facilities that operate around the clock.
During the scheduled maintenance, technicians will
replace damaged pumps and perform regular maintenance on power lines to ensure
their durability, Salama said.
The ministry chose this time of year because water
consumption is lower than in summer months, he said.
He said the ministry announced the maintenance to
give citizens a chance to prepare for the interruption.
