AMMAN —
According to the
Independent Election Commission, 18 appeals concerning the
results of the municipal and provincial council elections and the Amman General
Council election were registered before the Court of First Instance, Al-Ghad
News reported.

The Court of First
Instance shall decide on the appeals submitted to it within 30 days from the
date of registry with the court, in accordance with the Civil Trials Act of
1988 and its amendments.
The court may
render its decision either to dismiss the appeals or to grant them, and a
successful appeal would result in the annulment of the candidate being
challenged and confirmation of the election of another candidate. The elections
were held on March 22, and the results were published in the Official Gazette
on March 24.
