AMMAN
— On Friday, the monitoring and inspection teams at the
Jordan Food & Drug Administration (JFDA), in collaboration with the Royal Department for
Environment Protection and anti-smuggling units, successfully seized a
substantial quantity of unregistered slimming injections. These injections,
illegally imported from a neighboring country, lacked official documentation
with the authority.

JFDA
Director General,
Nizar Muhaidat, explained that the seized injections are
valued at approximately JD50,000, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.
They
were discovered inside a vehicle in Amman, neglecting the necessary
transportation and refrigerated storage conditions required for such
injections.
Muhaidat
highlighted that these injections are electronically marketed and promoted
through various social media pages. The source of these injections was
identified and seized as part of targeted regulatory operations and continuous
monitoring, involving periodic checks of advertisements for such drugs on
social media by pharmaceutical inspectors in the
Inspection and Control Department at the Directorate of Pharmaceuticals.
He
further mentioned that the injections were confiscated and preserved for
disposal following established procedures. Immediate measures were taken to transfer
the electronic page promoting the injections to the Electronic Crimes Unit of
the Criminal Investigation Department in the Public Security Directorate. The
relevant individuals will be referred to the judiciary for legal action.
The
JFDA urges the public to purchase medicines from reliable and designated
places, such as pharmacies and hospitals, as they are regularly supervised and
monitored by the administration's inspectors.
