AMMAN — Nayef Al-Fayez, the president of the
special economic zone authority of Aqaba, emphasized during the 8th Conference for
Jordanian Expatriate Businessmen and Investors that Aqaba recognizes the
immense value of cooperation with the private sector in enhancing
Aqaba’s economic environment.

Fayez affirmed that the authority believes in the importance
of partnership as the foundation for successful investments. Therefore, it has
worked on empowering investors through a range of incentives and regional
competitiveness, aiming to provide ports, logistical facilities,
decision-making mechanisms, and infrastructure to enhance this
partnership and trade, Khaberni News reported.
He announced that Aqaba is in the process of updating the
comprehensive master plan for a variety of projects, which will be ready next
year. These projects will either involve direct partnership with the private
sector or will be offered as
opportunities for the private sector.
Amongst these are the plans to redevelop and rehabilitate
the Dura border crossing and the King Hussein International Airport.
Fayez stated that investment in Aqaba is open to both
expatriate and
foreign Jordanian investors, given the diverse and comprehensive
investment opportunities available in promising sectors.
