AMMAN — President of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone
Authority Nayef Al-Bakhit revealed a set of new economic, tourism and trade
measures, including the reopening of all sectors after Eid Al-Fitr.

The reopening hinges on the rate of Aqaba residents’
registration on the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 vaccination platform, the
Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In remarks to the press, Al-Bakhit said that high
registration rates would allow the southern governorate, 284km south of Amman,
to reopen as soon as June 1, as well as to loosen restrictions such as the
Friday lockdown.
Bakhit stressed that Aqaba will be allocated “the lion’s
share” of vaccine jabs, if registration on the online platform reaches
considerable levels, according to Petra.
