AMMAN — The Amman-based Arab Wings
on Thursday celebrated receiving the first
air ambulance license in the Kingdom,
granted by Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission. The license enables
the private airline to transport patients and their escorts to and from the
Kingdom's hospitals, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Deputizing for the Minister of Health, the
Health Ministry Secretary-General for Primary Healthcare and Epidemiology Raed
Al-Shboul said His Majesty King Abdullah attaches "remarkable"
importance to Jordan's health sector and the development of medical tourism, as
“the nation has the needed capacities to become a distinguished destination for
this industry”.
The airline contracted with Abdali Hospital to provide medical staff qualified and licensed in air ambulance work to accompany patients during their journeys.
In addition, Shboul noted, His Majesty has
stressed the role of the private sector in creating technical solutions and
facilitations to attract tourists, exemplified in Arab Wings’ operation of an
air ambulance that can transport tourists from Arab and European countries for
treatment in Jordan.
Shboul also highlighted the need to
continue developing medical tourism services to keep the Kingdom’s competitive
edge and continue supporting the national economy.
For his part, Arab Wings CEO Ahmed Abu
Ghazaleh explained that the new license enables the airline to airlift patients
to and from Jordan and in and out of regional and EU countries onboard
medically equipped aircraft.
The airline contracted with Abdali Hospital

Abu Ghazaleh stressed the importance of
introducing new services to serve patients and encourage medical tourism in
Jordan.
