PARIS — Ambassador Dr. Sufian Al-Qudah, the
official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates,
announced that the UNESCO General Conference had today adopted a resolution
within the organization's mandate, addressing the ongoing war in the
Gaza Strip, with a majority of votes.

The resolution urgently calls for a cessation
of all attacks on Palestinians, especially targeting children, women, youth,
educators, and all those involved in the field of education. Additionally, it
demands an immediate halt to attacks on Palestinian educational institutions
while emphasizing the inalienable right of Palestinians to education.
The resolution underscores the necessity of
taking immediate measures to protect the
cultural heritage in Gaza. Expressing
deep concern, the resolution highlights the disruption of water, electricity,
and humanitarian aid to the region. Ambassador Qudah emphasized that the
resolution, presented by the Arab group at UNESCO, is a result of diplomatic
efforts. It was adopted with a majority of 96 votes out of the 137 countries
that participated in the vote.
