During this gathering, the team will delve
into negotiation mechanisms with international media companies and formulate
conditions and regulations derived from the unified Arab strategy in dealing
with them. This strategy will extend to managing social media platforms,
overseeing
digital broadcasting, and addressing
digital taxes, the Jordan News
Agency, Petra reported.
Adopt a Jordanian proposal
This convening of the Arab team follows the implementation
of
Decision No. (533) of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information during
its fifty-third regular session in Morocco. The decision aimed to adopt a
Jordanian proposal, uniting the Arab strategy for engaging with international
media companies. The Arab technical team, headed by Jordan, includes members
from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq, the
Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, and the
Arab States Broadcasting Union.
At its core, the Arab strategy aims to
amplify Arab content, safeguard Arab and Islamic causes – notably the
Palestinian cause – against negative propaganda and Islamophobia. The strategy
also aims to protect youth from harmful content, counter hate speech and false
news, and uphold privacy rights. Additionally, it seeks to preserve the media's
stake in the advertising market, an area that social media platforms have
largely dominated.
