AMMAN -Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major Gen. Yousef Huneiti, said the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army, is working to implement the King's directives related to challenges and difficulties facing the region, foremost is the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic crises, as well as climate change, which "significantly" affects global water and food security.

Huneiti, during his meeting on Thursday, with members of Lower House Al-Azm (resolve) bloc, said the JAF continues to provide medical services, fight unemployment, support the country's various sectors, pay attention to military retirees and veterans, and implement its main duty to protect the Kingdom's security and stability.
Huneiti also referred to the JAF's development and modernization process, which included personnel training based on comprehensive plans and programs, aimed at raising servicemen's efficiency and performance, enhancing their combat capabilities and developing their skills with the "latest" means of military training.
In this regard, he said this development process is carried out by holding various military exercises and joint internal and external workshop with brotherly and friendly countries, to face any challenges, which could harm the Kingdom's security and stability.
Huneiti briefed the bloc's members on various modern equipment and weapons that have been entered service in the JAF "recently," and the army's duties , especially with regard to threats faced by some border fronts, which are dealt with "efficiently and professionally" and thwarting any plans intended to destabilize comprehensive national security.
For their part, the bloc's members said the meeting aims to strengthen joint coordination, to agree on "clear" frameworks with the government to update some legislation related to JAF's personnel to keep pace with progress and development in this aspect.
The bloc also praised the JAF's "key" role to maintain the Kingdom's security and stability, expressing support for the efforts made to defend the homeland in a manner that achieves comprehensive national security.
