Army foils infiltration, ammunition smuggling attempt from Syria

AMMAN — The Northern Military Zone on Saturday evening thwarted an attempt to infiltrate the Kingdom and smuggle in a quantity of ammunition and weapons from Syria, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

An official military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said the rules of engagement were applied in the incident, leading to the retreat of smugglers who tried to infiltrate the Kingdom, according to the JAF statement on Sunday.

After searching the area, a number of firearms and ammunition were seized, and the confiscated items were transferred to the concerned authorities, the source added.

The source stressed the army will apply “full force” to thwart any infiltration or smuggling attempts that seek to tamper with the Kingdom’s security.
