AMMAN — Soldiers intercepted and stopped an attempt
to illegally cross the Syrian border into Jordan to smuggle drugs, the
Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said in a statement Sunday.

Border Guards rapid response patrols, in coordination with
the Anti-Narcotics Department and other security agencies, thwarted the attempt
to enter the Kingdom. Gunfire was exchanged and some smugglers were injured.
The rest retreated back into Syria.
More than 8,500 palm-sized bricks of hashish and more than 3
million captagon pills were seized, alongside almost 400 rounds of ammunition
and 18,000 Syrian liras, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
